Anyone working with lye aka sodium hydroxide should have some household vinegar nearby and handy. If youve seen Fight Club when tyler kisses ed nortens hand and dumps lye onto that hand giving him a chemical burn. He tells norton if he runs his hand under water itll just make it worse or he can have vinegar and neutralize the lye. Yup sometimes movies are helpful

If you don't have argon gas, I would recommend using fluf core wire

Very good video. I have been planning the same thing and wondering why no one builds all steel frames. I build a lot of things from steel tubing so to me it was an obvious alternative to expensive and flimsy aluminum profile. My idea is to build a larger steel framed cabinet to hold the accesories and filament. Also I want to make it heated and enclosed and put the steppers underneath and outside of the heated chamber. BTW...I was born in the philippines and my wife is filipina and here with me in Peru.

Well, it's certainly not a Bambu killer. Bambu printers are aimed at people who want a more intuitive, simpler experience. The people who would buy a Bambu wouldn't build their own open source printer. This is a Venn diagram where the circles do not touch. This is cool and all, but it won't compete with Bambu products.

regarding your welding. first thing is to use a welder that uses CO2 shielding. That will help to make your welds less clumpy and full of oxidation. Second, grind off the galvanization plating. Its hard to get a good weld if your welding galvanization.

I'm running twin 9 mm linear rails form Core XY printer, very light indeed. Both linear rails run opposite to each other and are supported at both ends with a 3D printer Y to X joiner. The Extruder is mount to upper and lower linear blocks via 3D extruder mount. I also running 9 mm linear rail for each side of my Y axis.

In my experience , cheap flux core wire welders are just garbage. Also I'm not sure but I feel like those tubes are galvanized which would make your life much harder. Getting a good weld boils down to surface prep and using the correct settings and tools for the job. The steady hand will just come with practice. Unless you have Parkinson's that is.

Use argon and dual shield dual shield wire you would have to reverse polarity on the welder but it is more forgiving for people with less experience also more expensive.. if you need to use hard wire to keep costs down still use argon use a piece of scrap and if it is pitted turn down your heat also a slower wire speed and slowly move the gun watching the pool build to the desired size before moving
